Somali advocate, Datu Wahid Dahir, recently took to his Instagram page to share a video of alleged local residents of the condominium, beating a Somali man named Abdul Kadir with wooden planks.

attack 3

He wrote, “The recent events at Idaman Sutera Condominium involving 2 Malaysian Chinese residents attacking Abdul Kadir, a Somali man who has been a resident for nearly 8 years, have sparked outrage and concern. The attack, which took place in the condominium’s lift, escalated to the use of large wooden sticks against Kadir.”

“Shockingly, the management and security personnel stood by, allowing the assault to happen.”

The locals wanted Abdul Kadir out of the lift

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Datu Wahid Dahir said that the attack started apparently because the local men were unhappy with Abdul Kadir’s presence in the condominium lift.

“The condominium, Idaman Sutera, has problems with their lifts. They were upgrading their lift system so each block only had 1 lift working. So, the management made a rule where only 8 people are allowed (in the lift) at one time. (Abdul Kadir) was in the queue and he was maybe the 5th or 6th person (in line). He was not the 9th,”

“So, when he entered (the lift), (there were) 2 locals, one of them was the 9th person. In order for (the 9th person) to enter, they took out (Abdul Kadir). They started saying some racist stuff against him, and then suddenly, they told him that he needed to go out (from the lift),” he explained.

Abdul Kadir then attempted to defend himself by pointing out that he had queued for his place in the lift, but the local men started to beat him up.

The attack then escalated to the outdoor area, as seen in the video, where wooden planks were used on Abdul Kadir.

What makes this worse is that, despite the authorities calling for the fair treatment of different races, the condominium is allegedly forcing Somali residents to leave.

attack 2

“Furthermore, the discriminatory actions taken by the condominium management, including the ongoing evacuation of Somali residents despite the advice from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to adhere to the Malaysian Constitutional principles of non-discrimination based on race and religion, are deeply troubling,”

“The failure of the Somali Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, led by Abdidahir Abdi to address this issue adds to the sense of abandonment felt by the Somali community in the face of such injustice,” he explained.

With that, Datu Wahid Dahir wants action to be taken and justice to be served.

“These incidents highlight the urgent need for accountability, justice and adherence to the principles of equality and non-discrimination. It is crucial for authorities to intervene, investigate the attack on Abdul Kadir and ensure that such discriminatory actions cease immediately,”

“The residents of Idaman Sutera Condominium and the broader community must stand together against racism and injustice, fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all residents, regardless of their background,” he added.

He also told WORLD OF BUZZ that racism is rampant at the condominium as the management has posted several notices stating that “black people are not allowed to stay there“, especially those from Somalia and Sudan.

We genuinely hope that the authorities investigate this matter and take the appropriate action against the perpetrators who violently attacked Abdul Kadir.
