May 13, 1969, will forever be known as one of the bloodiest and darkest days in Malaysian history. Coined as the biggest racial crisis ever seen in the country, the day took a heavy toll of 196 people’s lives.
Hence is why no one wants to see or experience such an incident happening again.
Though, unfortunately, there are people (including school students) sharing sentiments of a repeat of the tragic event on TikTok, all because there were Malaysians who voted for Pakatan Harapan (PH).
“An Anwar-owned Malaysia? Do you remember the May 13, 1969, incident?”
“Those who voted for PH, do they know about the May 13, 1969, incident?”
“If there is a declaration for war, we welcome the war.”
“Smells like May 13.”
“May 13 incident is on the way, be prepared my people.”
“What do you think is the fate of the Malays after this? Don’t let the history of May 13 happen again.”
“Get ready, oh great young warriors. Think of the ship. It will not sink as long as we are here.”
Based on the comments in these TikTok postings, there were some Malaysians who shared that they were ready to fight while others pointed out that this isn’t an issue to play around with. And true enough, it really is not.
Such postings can create and intensify racial tension, that can cause similar if not worse damage like it did back in 1969.
We genuinely hope that these Malaysians rethink the content they are sharing and that the authorities look into this matter.
Stay tuned for more updates.
