The recent incident of a Singaporean man caught on CCTV mercilessly beating a guard dog in Bandar Kinrara, Puchong went viral on social media after netizens were enraged by his actions.
The man was identified as Terry Yee, and he apologised for beating up the dog and says he regrets his actions, according to The Star.
“I went overboard. I do apologise that I went overboard and hit the dog to the point I shouldn’t have,” he said.
A self-proclaimed animal lover, Yee even brought his dog over from Singapore with him and says that he has other pets such as cats, fish, and birds. In fact, the interview was conducted with his pet dog sitting on his lap.
He goes on to explains his actions, saying,
“I love animals, but I just snapped that day. (Last) Saturday, I was attacked in the rain, and lost my engagement ring. On Sunday, I got attacked again. Prior to that, I was attacked another six times. They (the management) have the videos, but they only showed the one where I defended myself, to the point that I became the aggressor.”
The man says he did not mean to hurt the dog but could not take it anymore as the dog had repeatedly harassed him in the past, while the security guards did not do anything to help him.
He is deeply remorseful now and wants to make amends by helping the dog to recover from his injuries.
“I am very eager to see what I can do to help the dog recover and rehabilitate. I have nothing against the dog, I really don’t,” he added.
In an interview with The Star, a lady claimed that he would often taunt and kick the dog.
Meanwhile, the police said they have already interviewed Yee and will be investigating the case with the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS).
Let’s hope that there are no more cases of animal abuse, no matter what the reason is behind it!
