So, if you’re into online shopping and love super affordable, trendy clothing, you’d have 100% heard about SHEIN.
With customers from all around the world, so many people have those SHEIN baggies lying around, with their SHEIN clothes and the tags explaining to you how you should wash the item (not that anyone actually ever looks at those, right?).
Well, wrong. People have been checking out the tags on clothing bought from SHEIN and have noticed something… alarming. Distressed calls have been allegedly written and even printed into the tags, asking for “help” and informing people of their medical issues.
In multiple postings and videos shared to platforms like Facebook and TikTok, people have been showcasing these tags and wondering what’s going on.
Some even went as far as misleading netizens saying the labels say “Need your help”, when it’s actually part of a sentence that writes “Need your help washing with the soft detergent”.
The claims online say employees allegedly have to work 3 shifts a day (morning, afternoon and night) and have only 1 day off a month, and the factories are allegedly filled to the brim with huge bags full of clothes that block hallways, making the location hazardous should there be a fire.
SHEIN has since denied the allegations on their official TikTok page, stating that the claims are false.
“Recently, several videos were posted on TikTok that contained misleading and false information about SHEIN. We want to make it very clear that we take supply chain matters seriously.
“Our strict Code of Conduct prohibits suppliers from using child or forced labour and we do not tolerate non-compliance,” they shared.
In their TikTok video, they even debunked some of the images and videos you may have seen about them. And even highlighted how the labels came from different clothing brands, and do NOT belong to SHEIN.
In the comments, they also added, “Please know that we will never tolerate child or forced labour and always treat workers fairly and with respect.”
