Police in India have arrested a 32-year-old woman for putting urine in her employer’s family food, causing them to fall ill.

The suspect, Reena Kumar, had been working as a maid for 8 years in Ghaziabad and had no previous issues with her employer.

The despicable act was captured on the closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed in the kitchen of the family’s home. The suspect, Reena Kumar, who lives in Shanti Nagar, has reportedly been working with the family for the past 8 years.

However, in recent months, she may have been driven by stress or severe depression.

The family reported the matter to the police on October 14, claiming that several family members fell ill after eating food prepared by their maid.

Out of suspicion, they discreetly installed CCTV in the kitchen, and Reena was caught in the act. The footage showed Reena mixing urine into the food.

“For the past few months, my family has been experiencing health complications, and the CCTV footage revealed that she urinated into a container and then mixed it with the chapati,” said a family member of the victims.

The police have opened an investigation under Section 272 (Acts Causing the Spread of Dangerous Infectious Diseases to Life), reported Times of India.

“During the questioning, she repeatedly denied having committed such acts, but when we presented the video evidence, she fell silent. After that, she changed her statement,” said Assistant Commissioner of Police Wave City, Lipi Nagayach.

As a result of the interrogation, the suspect confessed that she committed the act out of revenge against her employer’s family, who often scolded her for minor mistakes.
