SG-based Italian chef Gero DiMaria is known for his reviews of European ingredients made available on this side of the globe – giving his recommendations on what is best or otherwise by tasting and cooking with the said item.
This time round, Chef Gero did the very same by reviewing Malaysian-made Farm Fresh butter. Here is what he has to say.
“Let’s melt the butter down to see its water content. Let’s check if there is water spitting out of the butter. The butter is bubbling and I do not see any spitting,” he shared.
“This is good. This means that this butter has good quality.”

He added, “The fat content is good. I am happy. If I continue browning it, it won’t have any sediment in it. The smell is nice. A little bit nutty, and the smell of dairy is coming through.”
When it comes to the taste, he mentions that the butter is light.
“This butter is very good for making cakes and pastries. It is very smooth and light on the palate.”

“Let’s have it with bread…the saltiness comes through. It is very good.”
So, what was his final verdict?
“I would call this a mid-range butter; of course, it is not up there as the French ones, but this is good.”
Malaysians commenting on the video commended Farm Fresh on a job well done. It is always good to get an expert opinion on products like this before we make the decision to purchase.
