Riders as Young as 13 Arrested for Chasing & Hitting Myvi in Puchong, PDRM Explains What Happened

Recently, a viral video showed a Perodua Myvi being chased and attacked by a group of motorcyclists at the Puchong Batu 13 toll plaza. Now, the authorities are sharing further details about this incident.

According to a press statement by the Serdang Police, the Perodua Myvi was driven by a 52-year-old man who works as a security guard, while his friend was in the passenger seat.

PDRM give more details about the viral incident of a Perodua Myvi being chased by a group of motorcyclists

He had stopped by the side of the road after the toll plaza to make a phone call when his vehicle was approached by a group of motorcyclists.

“One (of the motorcyclists) asked the complainant’s friend if they were police officers,”

“The complainant proceeded to drive away and found that the group of motorcyclists were following and asking the vehicle to stop. The complainant’s vehicle was kicked until it sustained damage, as the complainant didn’t stop out of fear,” Serdang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Muhamad Farid Ahmad shared in the statement.

Motorcyclists as young as 13 were arrested by the police

This case is currently being investigated under Sections 279 and 427 of the Penal Code for driving recklessly and causing damage.

While we previously reported that 9 suspects aged between 17 and 21 were arrested, the Serdang Police have further revealed that the suspects apprehended included six underage teens aged as young as 13. The arrests were made between 28 and 29 September.

The police have also obtained remand orders for the suspects from the Petaling Jaya Magistrate’s Court for 4 days starting 30 September, with 3 motorcycles also seized.

“The police request that people with information about crimes provide the information to the authorities. The people are also advised to drive carefully on the road,” the statement added.
