A video is currently going viral online, showcasing a group of motorcyclists gathering at and attempting to pass through the toll plaza on the Penang Bridge, rather than using the motorcycle lane. This forced drivers in other vehicles to stop and wait for the group to pass through first.

The Penang Kini Facebook page shared the dashcam footage while calling out the motorcyclists for inconveniencing other road users. Based on the timestamp in the recording, the incident took place on Monday (29 September) at 11:40 PM.

The motorcyclists blocked multiple lanes

They wrote, “These motorcyclists are not using the lane they’re supposed to at the Penang Bridge toll plaza. It is known that there are fewer cars during this time of night, but don’t behave like this. It’s a huge inconvenience to the people.”

In the video, a large group of motorcyclists could be seen heading towards the toll plaza before taking up and blocking multiple lanes. Other vehicles, including the one that provided the dashcam footage, then had to stop as the motorcyclists sought out a lane through which they could pass.

The stopped vehicles only continued towards the toll booths after the motorcyclists had moved on.

What people are saying about this

The video has since garnered angry responses from the public, with many calling for law enforcement officers to be present at toll plazas to take action against motorcyclists who do not use the motorcycle lane, which can subsequently prevent such incidents from happening regularly.
