Senior Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI) Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has announced that a total of 300,000 high-skilled job opportunities will be created for youths by the year 2025. He further elaborated that these jobs are in high-impact sectors such as electrical and electronics (E&E), automotive, chemicals and advanced materials, as well as life sciences and medical technology.
According to national news agency Bernama, Azmin asserted that this year alone, a total of 20,000 similar job opportunities will be created through the Academy in Factory (AiF) programme. The Senior Minister iterated that it is the responsibility of MITI and the government to provide highly skilled and technological talents so as to ensure investors continue to make Malaysia an investment destination.
Azmin further commented,
“This is in line with the emphasis for the country’s workforce to improve skills and re-skilling or upskilling in line with the 4th Industrial Revolution which is expected to increase productivity by 30 percent in all sectors by 2030,”
Azmin said that the local workforce should be prepared with high skills that are suitable to meet the demands of the industry. This is because Malaysia is striving to become a productive developed country. On the new high-skilled job opportunities, the Senior Minister said that they are created for all youth groups, including those in rural areas, villages and Orang Asli children.
