EVERYONE is on social media. That’s just how we get connected. But the thing with the internet is, you no longer have privacy the moment you post those photos online publicly… and that’s exactly what happened to a young lady from Perth, Australia.
According to ABC News, Noelle Martin was only 17 years old (now 22 years old) when her selfies were stolen and photoshopped into pornographic images.
She made this horrendous discovery when she reverse-searched her own selfies on Google Images and appalling pornographic images turned up. She has been trying to get all those images removed ever since. Much to her demise, these images are still circulating all around the internet.
Noelle told WAToday:
“They had taken ordinary photos – nothing pornographic, nothing sexually explicit – from my social media… and put my face on naked bodies.
“There’s quite a few out there that have been morphed.”
Noelle warns netizens that if you think your Facebook is set to private, it may still be useless as many of these perpetrators would use fake accounts to add you and gain access to all your ‘private’ information.
As if having her selfie photoshopped isn’t bad enough, her private information is often posted alongside those lewd photos.
“I had experiences where whoever they were would be adding my friends, and you’d find patterns because you’d get someone adding me and then adding a friend from Perth and then adding a friend in Melbourne that had no relation to Perth.”
“They know what university I go to, they know I’m in a law society, they know I go to the university bar. I didn’t know they’d been following me for a long time.”
As a law student, Noelle has been publicly fighting for these horrifying images to be taken down. She was successful at times but those disgusting photographs still kept frustratingly popping up. Once, she was asking one of the webmasters to remove her those lewd pictures but the webmaster blackmailed her for pictures of her breasts instead!
Worst of all, many people actually believe it is really her naked body in those photoshopped images.
Many horny netizens who chanced upon those photos left disturbingly perverted messages. Many thrashed her and called her horrendous names such as “slut” or “whore” too.
“The amount of come that’s been spilt over her could fill a swimming pool”
“Cover her face and we’d f*ck her body”
Unfortunately, because the internet is worldwide, Australian police and law have no jurisdiction over the photos posted from other countries.
The biggest problem with this ‘parasite’ porn is that it could happen to anybody! And Noelle just proved how vulnerable all of us are. Anyone could just take your images ANY time without you even knowing it!
Although it happen most frequently with celebrities, Noelle believes that with their fame, people will know that it isn’t them. It’s just too bad she couldn’t say the same thing.
“But when this happens to an ordinary girl… when people search for your name and it comes up, that is what will define you and people don’t know that obviously this is a troll that’s done this.”
So, seriously, be careful people! Don’t add just anyone on your social media. If you’ve previously done this, it’s high time you clear your Facebook friends list and social media followers.
Share this message and let your friends know, especially to all the ladies out there.
