Earlier this week, photos of a segment lifter at an MRT construction site began to circulate online, causing widespread safety concerns among Malaysian netizens.
Just yesterday (15th April), MRT issued a statement confirming the incident, which happened on Saturday night (13th April) at 11pm.

“MMC Gamuda KVMRT (PDP SSP) Sdn Bhd (MMC Gamuda) wishes to confirm that a segment lifter toppled during preparation to move the lifting frame above Sungai Gasi, near the Jalan Kuala Selangor worksite.”
“Neither workers nor members of the public were injured in the incident, which occurred completely within the confines of the work site and did not impact any public area.”

“MMC Gamuda wishes to state that the construction of the MRT project follows stringent safety procedures. Nevertheless, safety checks and procedures will be reviewed and stepped up at all construction sites for the project.”
The statement added that the project team would be removing the toppled segment lifter on Monday night (15th April), between 10pm and 6am (16th April).
Well, we’re glad that this problem is being rectified and no one got hurt!
