With millions of Malaysians taking to their respective polling centres to cast their votes for the 15th General Elections (GE15) happening today, it’s not exactly smooth sailing for everyone. Boat pun intended.

Sadly, there are some who have to bear through floods in order to perform their civil duty.

The Samudera.my Twitter page shared images from the Baram (P220) constituency in Sarawak, where voters can be seen standing in floodwater while waiting for their turn to vote. Some of them can even be seen arriving at polling centers in sampans.

They wrote, “The atmosphere at Kampung Long Bemang voting center, people are still enthusiastically queuing up to fulfill their responsibilities even in flood conditions”.

According to a report by Berita RTM, the polling station for the Baram Parliament is proceeding according to schedule despite other polling stations being moved due to the floods.

The dedication of the residents of Baram, to brave through the floods in order to cast their votes, truly show their concern and care for the need for betterment in their community.

We genuinely hope that they remain safe throughout this time.

Stay tuned for more updates.
