A sports cameraman at the Piala Futsal Malaysia 2025 third-place match between Sabah and Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) captured footage of Sabah’s head coach, Roger Filipe, getting into a heated exchange as the referee ended the match.

The match ended in heartbreak for Sabah, who had led 3–1 but ultimately lost 4–3. The dramatic turnaround triggered Roger Filipe to enter the court after the final whistle.

Fight

In an attempt to defuse the situation, his assistant tried to calm him down but was met with an elbow from the coach, escalating the confrontation.

Sabah’s loss of their early advantage to JDT caused emotions to run high, particularly for the Portuguese-born head coach.

Fight 1

The situation quickly escalated when the coach elbowed his assistant, prompting the assistant to retaliate with a punch. A physical fight nearly broke out before bystanders intervened.

As of now, no further statements have been issued regarding the incident.
