Back in July, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that RON95 petrol would be priced at RM1.99/litre for all Malaysians, along with RM100 SARA aid, an extra public holiday, and more perks.
Anwar then reiterated the promise, saying that it will be implemented by the end of September 2025. Furthermore, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail also assured that these promises will be delivered, showing the government’s commitment to people’s welfare.

RON95 will be priced at RM1.99/litre for Malaysians starting on 30 September
Accordingly, the Prime Minister today announced that the price of RON95 petrol would be reduced from RM2.05 to RM1.99 per litre starting next Tuesday (30 September).
Anwar added that police and military personnel will get to enjoy this benefit earlier, starting 27 September (Saturday), while Rahmah Cash Contribution (STR) recipients will receive it from 28 September (Sunday).

The new price is only for Malaysians with a valid driving license
Starting 30 September, only Malaysians with a valid driving licence will enjoy the RON95 subsidy at RM1.99 per litre, with a monthly BUDI95 quota of 300 litres. E-hailing drivers can also apply for a bigger allocation, as reported by BERNAMA.
Anwar added that non-citizens and large companies will no longer qualify for the subsidy and must pay the unsubsidised price of around RM2.60 per litre.
To make the system smoother, MyKad readers will be installed at petrol stations and shops, while alternative payments like Touch ‘n Go and apps such as Petronas’ Setel will also be supported.
“Similar to the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) aid, no registration is required; Malaysians only need to use their MyKad to get the subsidised price.”
