A 49-year-old man has been arrested and RM83,000 worth of firecrackers were confiscated by the Region 2 Marine Police Force (PPM) during a raid last Wednesday (13 April 2022) in Batu Pahat, Johor. Part of ‘Op Kontraban’, PPM Region 2 commander, ACP Muhd Zailani Abdullah asserted that the banned items are believed to be for the local market for the upcoming Aidilfitri celebration.

As reported by national news agency Bernama, PPM Region 2 arrested the 49-year-old man who is believed to have been storing the illegal firecrackers. The team rushed to the location following a tip-off from the public and found a total of 63 boxes containing various types of firecrackers and fireworks worth around RM83,000.
