Prime Minister-cum-Finance Minister, Anwar Ibrahim (DSAI) has just today announced a mini budget that will be implemented on 1 January 2023.
While proposing his mini budget, DSAI received support from every single MP in Parliament and hence the mini budget being approved.
Here’s what you need to know about this mini budget
- Total budget for 2023 will be RM107.7 billion
- ALL students are eligible for a one-off RM150 cash aid
Each student will be eligible for a one-off Rm150 aid REGARDLESS of their family’s background or income. This decision is made in hopes of helping parents to help their children get back on track for school. The idea was originally proposed by the previous government during their 2023 budget announcements.
- BKM payout that was originally set on March 2023 will be moved forward to January 2023
First payout for Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia (BKM) will be pushed forward from March 2023 to January 2023. The total budget allocated for the first payout is RM20 billion. Eligible families will receive RM300 while eligible single individuals will receive RM100.
- Public servants will still be awarded with RM100 raise annually
As per previous budget announcement, public servants will continue to receive a RM100 raise annually.
- RM4 billion allocated to help flood victims
According to Anwar, NADMA (Natural Disaster Management Agency) has been allocated RM4 billion to help prepare for the upcoming flood season.
Hopefully the cash aid provided by the government can help lighten the burden of struggling Malaysians.
