The headmaster of a religious school in Kelantan was arrested on 10 December for allegedly having sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl for the last 3 years.
As reported by Sinar Harian, Kelantan Police Chief, Deputy Commissioner Shafien Mamat said that this relationship between the headmaster and the Form 3 student started in 2017 and was out of ‘mutual love’ for each other without her family’s knowledge.
The headmaster was arrested after a third-party reported the incident to Talian Kasih, and the girl has been sent to Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital for further investigation and treatment.
Shafien Mamat also told Berita Harian that the suspect would invite the victim to school several times a week when teachers were absent and during school holidays as well despite being married with three kids of his own.
He also noted that police investigation so far shows no proof of physical force against the student nor threats to make her have sex with the headmaster.
“Based on the initial police investigation, the student was not threatened by the principal for the past two years, instead what happened was a mutual agreement between them,” he explained.
“Maybe they are in love and the two are always in secret without the family’s knowledge.”
The case is currently being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code.
