Most of the time, parents are the epitome of selfless and unconditional love, they will always sacrifice their happiness and needs just to keep their children happy.

A perfect example of this love was shown by 38-year-old Ryan Arebuabo from Manila, Philippines. Recently, he went viral on social media when his photo was snapped by Jhunnel Sarajan, who saw the man in Jollibee with his two daughters.
Arebuabo just sat there looking as his daughters enjoyed their meal while he didn’t eat as he did not have enough money to get three fried chicken meals, costing about $2 (RM8.87) each.
Sarajan approached the father and struck up a conversation with him. He discovered that Arebuabo suffered from a stroke attack four years ago, and his previous occupation was selling boiled corn in the neighbourhood. Because of this, his wife left him and took his two daughters along.
However, Arebuabo persevered and managed to get custody of his two daughters, Rose Ann and Rose Mae from his estranged wife. They are currently living in the slums in a 4-square-meter shanty made of used plywood and iron sheets.
He did not have the ability to go for therapy sessions after his stroke attack which left half his body paralyzed and had a difficult time talking. But he qualified to be one of the beneficiaries of the government initiative Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), which provides cash grants to “poorest of the poor, to improve the health, nutrition, and the education of children.”
He receives P2,200 (RM194) every other month to cover the needs of his children. In addition, he now mans a sari-sari stall which nets him about P100 – P200 (RM8 – RM17) a day that allows him to put food on the table.
Arebuabo is determined to show the world and his estranged wife that he is capable of providing for his children, and be a good father, even though he suffered from a stroke attack. He has faith that one day, he and his family will be able to rise out from the slums.
