Since the introduction and implementation of the RFID system at the toll plazas in the country, many Malaysians have expressed their dissatisfaction towards the system due to the traffic congestion that is caused by the failure of the system.
The RFID system has been implemented for years but many users are still apparently not happy with it. One of the unhappy users is Abdul Rahman Dahlan, the former minister of urban well-being, housing and local government who expressed his frustration about the RFID system. On his Twitter account yesterday (January 11), Abdul described the inefficiency as “erratic”, so much so that road users don’t trust it enough to drive into the RFID lane.
He also said that the problem has been ongoing for far too long.
“Malaysians tolerated it for the first few months to allow trial and error, but this has gone for far too long!”
This MyRFID is so frustrating! Instead of making traffic flows seamlessly, it’s efficiency is so erratic that u don’t trust driving into the lane! Msians tolerated it for the first few months to allow trial and error. But this has gone for far too long! Pls bro @anthonyloke

At the end of his tweet, Abdul tagged the minister of transport, Anthony Loke and reminded him to look into the matter. Former Prime Minister, Najib Razak also expressed his thoughts about the RFID stickers before he went to prison.
“Now you know what we feel”
His tweet has gained the attention of many Malaysians, and they had a lot to say, with some pointing out that Abdul has finally understood what other RFID users have been feeling all this while.
“You’re only saying something about it after you’ve lost your job.”
“Now that you’ve lost you’re job, you can feel what we’ve been feeling.”
“But I’ve never had issues with RFID”
On the other hand, other RFID users said that they have experienced little to zero issues with using RFID, and some even pointed out that SmartTAG poses more issues.
In early 2022, it was also reported that PLUS will deploy their team members to the scene to personally help RFID users who are stuck at the toll plazas
Last night, Anthony Loke responded to his tweet and revealed that RFID is not under the Ministry of Transport’s jurisdiction. However, Loke assured that he will be discussing the matter with Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, the Ministry of Works.
Salam Bro..RFID at the toll booth is not under MOT's jurisdiction. It is under Lembaga Lebuhraya. Anyway, I will discuss with bro @AlexNantaLinggi …thanks for the feedback https://t.co/UOunBEVaue

As of this morning (January 12), Alexander has also responded to Loke’s tweet and acknowledged the matter.
“I’ve informed all relevant parties to have a meeting about it immediately.”
Salam and good morning brother @anthonyloke .
I am fully aware of this issue. Saya juga sudah memanggil semua pihak terlibat untuk mengadakan perbincangan, secepat mungkin.— Alexander Nanta Linggi (@AlexNantaLinggi) January 12, 2023
Regardless, if you’re one of the RFID users, have you experienced any difficulties at the toll plazas? Are the team members still at the scene to help you scan the RFID tags when you’re stuck?
