This is getting too much!

According to Channel News Asia, two Myanmar supporters were brutally beaten up by Malaysians at a football match between the two countries during the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games on Monday (21st August). 

The two football supporters suffered punches and kicks to the face and body outside the Shah Alam Stadium after Malaysia beat Myanmar 3-1.

The beating was bad enough to land one of the Myanmar nationals in the hospital. In the meantime, police are currently in pursuit of the people who senselessly beat them up.

 

This is not the first time something like this has happened, either. In 2015, a group of Malaysians known as the ‘Ultras Malaya‘ caused a ruckus at the World Cup Qualifiers Match against Saudi Arabia at the Shah Alam Stadium. Some supporters threw flares and smoke bombs onto the pitch, and even let off missiles targeted at enforcement officers. How disgraceful!

The same group was also responsible for chanting “Singapore Anjing (Dog)” during the Malaysia vs. Singapore football match at the Shah Alam Stadium on the 16th of August. The tasteless and unsportsmanlike act understandably upset many Malaysians and Singaporeans alike.

What an embarrassing display of hooliganism. We hope that these Malaysians get apprehended by the authorities before they tarnish our name even more!
