In his special announcement today, Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin announced that the Movement Control Order (MCO) will be implemented in certain states. He added that for the states under MCO, ALL social activities that involve people in groups will NOT be allowed.

Some of the activities include:

  • Weddings
  • Conferences
  • Religious processions including Thaipusam
  • Meetings
  • Seminars & Courses
  • Team sports

However, for states under the RMCO, these social activities will be allowed based on set SOPs. If you’re wondering whether or not you need to go work, the government has determined these five sectors as essential economic sectors.

The sectors include:

  • Manufacturing
  • Building
  • Service
  • Trade and distribution
  • Plantations and commodities

However, only 30% of employees from the management team will be allowed in the office while the rest of the employees should only be in the office at required times which will be set by the employer.

The Prime Minister reminded that SOPs should be followed at all times. Any employers found to be violating SOPs will have strict actions taken against them.

For the industries not listed as essential economic sectors, the Work From Home (WFH) order will be implemented. All employers will have to obey the order to lessen movement in the community.

Stay tuned for more updates!
