By now, Malaysians have probably received many rumours and news about an alleged cabinet reshuffle taking place.
The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, has been very vague whenever he was asked about this issue. On 23 November at a Thanksgiving event, reporters asked him about the cabinet reshuffle and he replied to them by saying,
“Why January, why not December?”
About a week later on 1 December at the Surau Putra Al-Amin in Precinct 18, reporters asked him the same question again, reported BERNAMA. This time, it seems that he pretended not to hear the question and jokingly asked a child nearby to repeat the question.
“Datuk Seri, when is the cabinet reshuffle?” asked the boy.
The PM replied with another question: “When do you propose, before or after 2024?”
The boy said, “Before 2024” and it seems that the PM found the answer to be satisfactory and turned to address the reporters.
“He said before 2024. I agree.”
This is probably one of the more substantial hints that the prime minister has given. With just a month left of this year, it seems that the cabinet reshuffle may be taking place in the very near future.
