We’ve gotten somewhat used to seeing People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) perform various controversial campaigns overseas to push the general publish towards becoming vegans and vegetarians.
But, would you have thought that they’d eventually come to Malaysia?
According to a report by Oriental Daily, PETA activists were seen outside of the Petronas Twin Towers (KLCC) yesterday (March 29), dressed as zombies to encourage others to go vegan.
While they protested silently, they held signs in English, Malay and Chinese saying ‘Flesh is flesh. Go vegan!‘.
A PETA representative present at the scene explained that the purpose of the protest was to educate the public on consuming vegetarian food for the health of people and animals.
“The meat on our table is actually as bloody as zombies eating human flesh,” she said.
Malaysians, on the other hand, believe that people should have the right to eat meat if they want to and decided to use humour against the campaign.
“Lame, don’t project what you want onto others.”
“I consume pig’s blood and duck’s blood, these tricks are useless to me.”
“Scared me, I ate 2 burgers to calm myself down.”
“It’s so scary, I want to eat a bowl of Bak Kut Teh to suppress my shock.”
What do you think of PETA’s efforts on pushing Malaysians towards veganism? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
