Another day, another mall is getting prepped and ready before the doors are open to the public. Yes, we know that KL and Selangor are full of malls now but this time, we’re not talking about the Klang Valley.

By now, we have 2 Pavilion malls – 1 in Bukit Bintang and another one in Bukit Jalil. This time, Perlis is about to get its own Pavilion too, known as Kompleks Pavilion which is located in Padang Besar. The mall is expected to open by October this year, and it will be the 1st commercial plaza in the state to operate until nighttime, as reported by Oriental Daily.

The chairman of the State Border Relations Committee, Izizam Ibrahim said that the modernly designed Pavilion in Perlis has 110 shops and ALL has been rented by merchants despite the renovating works which are still in progress.

“The plaza is a private building, built with an open shop concept to provide more comfortable space for visitors.”

To those who are not aware, Padang Besar is ideally located on the border of Malaysia and Thailand. The location will further boost the tourism sector and welcomes visitors not only from the country but also Thailand during the 2024 & 2025 Perlis Tourism Years.

In the meantime, Izizam said that the two-storey Plaza Niaga commercial building beside Padang Besar Pavilion is expected to open in December this year, with restaurants upstairs and various commodities sold downstairs.

“For now, only some final touchups left to go for Plaza Niaga before it’s fully operational. As for Pavilion, we only have some maintenance work left before the mall open its doors,” Izizam shared.

That’s 2 places not only for the people there to shop and visit, but also for foreign tourists! Do you think it is a good start for the state to boost its tourism?
