A recent video of 2 men releasing snakes has gone viral, sparking concerns among the public, as reported by Berita Harian.
In the video, the 2 men were seen arriving in a white MPV, carrying bags with pythons as they walked toward a large drain before releasing them into it.
They released 3 pythons into the drain
The police have confirmed that they received a report about 3 individuals, 2 men and 1 woman, who were caught on video releasing 3 pythons into a drain in Putra Heights, Selangor.
Subang Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat, said that based on their investigation, the incident actually took place sometime in mid-January.
“The investigation was carried out by the Putra Heights Police Station Chief, and it was confirmed that the snakes were released around the middle of last month,” he added.
A man decided to file a police report
Wan Azlan mentioned that the report was made by a local man at around 10:15 AM on February 3 after he came across a video on WhatsApp, where he saw 2 men and a woman releasing pythons into a drain along Jalan Persiaran Putra Permai, Putra Heights.
The man then went to the Putra Heights Police Station to file a report because he was worried about his safety and the safety of his family.
The case has now been handed over to the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) for further action.
