PDRM To Investigate Prasarana Chairman Tajuddin For Not Wearing Face Mask During Press Conference

The police will be investigating the Chairman of Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman who is accused of violating SOPs as he wore only a face shield, sans face mask, during a press conference held yesterday (25 May) addressing the LRT collision accident that happened very recently.

“The investigation will be carried out based on the viral video which showed that Tajuddin did not wear a face mask during the press conference after finishing his review of the location where the accident involving two trains in an LRT station in Kuala Lumpur occurred,” said Dang Wangi Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Zainal Abidin Abdullah in a statement recorded by Berita Harian.

He added that all those who are involved in the case will be called to the Dang Wangi police headquarters to have their statements taken soon. Investigations will be carried out according to Section 21A of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and Rule 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations.

Previously, Tajuddin held a press conference yesterday morning (25 May) to give a statement concerning the LRT collision which resulted in heavy injuries for 47 passengers. 21 of the passengers are hospitalised and six of them are in the intensive care unit (ICU) with three needing ventilators. All 213 passengers involved in the incident are said to receive RM1,000 compensation irrespective of their condition.
