Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) officers now have to meet the requirement of having a body mass index (BMI) of less than 28 to qualify for promotions.
According to a report by Berita Harian, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said that the BMI requirement is among the criteria added to ensure that the promotion process in the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) becomes more stringent.
“This initiative is important to ensure the health and skills of police officers, thus enhancing their ability to deliver the best service to the community and the country,” he said.
Additionally, he said that PDRM has strengthened their promotion process to be more transparent and fair, and will provide equal opportunities to every qualified member.
“The Promotion Policy for Senior Police Officers has been improved through the implementation of e-Courses and Online Competency Assessment (PeKAT),”
“It aims to curb issues of favouritism and accusations, and ensure the selection of suitable, competent and qualified candidates,” he added.
