A couple in Alor Gajah, Malacca, tried running away from the cops, only for the car to plunge into the river. In an unexpected turn, the man left his GF in the car and escaped alone.

The pair was trying to ditch the cops who were after them for a Khalwat case.

Alor Gajah’s district Chief of Police, Superintendent Ashari Abu Samah said the incident took place around 9:30 pm on Thursday (May 9), when the 30-year-old man panicked after seeing a police patrol car that was there.

The police officers were patrolling the area in Hutan Simpan Masjid Tanah, where the Khalwat allegedly took place. The car chase was quite long.

“The suspect sped off and drove for 14 KM before the Myvi plunged into the river. The man escaped into the water and swam to the other side, leaving his partner stranded in the car.”

Upon investigation, the police did not find anything suspicious in the car, and they believed the man was evading the authorities to avoid being caught in the Khalwat case with his 26-year-old girlfriend, whom the suspect had just known.

As for the suspect, police revealed that they found 3 records of drug-related cases that are linked to him.

“The 26-year-old female did not sustain injury during the incident. She was sent home to her relatives.”

We hope the man who escaped will be caught as soon as possible.
