PDRM Arrests Men in Johor for Midnight Brawl Outside Surau Following Gambling Dispute

About 20 men were involved in a physical brawl in Muar, Johor, and police had arrested 4 of those involved.

They were caught in a fight over gambling matters, which took place in front of a Surau around midnight.

Muar district chief police, Assistant Commissioner Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz, said the police received a call about the matter around 12:45 AM. Aside from the caught suspects, another four were admitted to the hospital due to their injuries.

Police confirmed that everyone involved in the brawl is local, and PDRM is still on the hunt for other suspects who managed to flee the scene when the police arrived.

According to preliminary investigations, the fight was caused by dissatisfaction with gambling, and weapons were also used during the fight, which caused injuries to some of the suspects.

The case is being investigated under Sections 148, 326, and 307 of the Penal Code for rioting using weapons and causing serious injury.

In an official statement by the police, the authorities are still identifying the identities of the suspects who fled.

PDRM also urged the public to come forward to the nearest police station if they have relevant information about the brawl.
