Every time we visit the ATM in Malaysia, a common sight that we will see is bank receipts haphazardly discarded on the floor.

Sure, you may think that the notes may not provide important details to the untrained eye, but Polis DiRaja Malaysia is saying otherwise.

Taking to Facebook, the police advised the public to discard the printed bank slips properly as details of your account balance can attract criminals to you!

Polis Diraja Malaysia (Royal Malaysia Police) writes, “Improperly discarding your ATM receipts do not only contribute to the mess surrounding the machine, but your account balance printed on it may attract criminals.”

To avoid the public from becoming victims the police suggested that the slips are shredded and discarded into the rubbish bin.

“Better yet, there is no need to print your account balance and simply view it once your session is done.”

Easy right?

Commenting on the reminder, several netizens have also suggested others to use online apps to check their balance.
