It’s pretty common to hear news of people verbally abusing customer service staff, so here’s an interesting one where the tables are actually turned.
A Mainland Chinese passenger who was flying out from the Don Mueang airport in Bangkok had accidentally brought in his hand-carry luggage to board the plane; however, it was over the airline’s limit. While it was an innocent mistake, it ticked off one of the airline’s ground staff so badly, she began scolding and yelling at him in Thai!
In the viral video uploaded to Facebook by a user named Red Skull, the passenger is seen to be at a loss for words as the female staff, clad in the blue uniform of her company New Gen Airways, goes on a mad tirade against him. It is apparent that the Chinese national is unable to understand a word she is saying.

Sin Chew Daily also reported that the incident occurred as a result of the passenger being unaware of the airline’s unique carry-on luggage limit, which is 5kg. He was under the impression that the airline followed the standard limit of 7kg to 8kg, but sadly in this case he was mistaken.
Since the video was posted this past February 12, it has garnered 171k views, and over 500 comments from concerned and angry Thais who strongly feel that the ground staff had overreacted. Some went on to mention that there was no need for the lady to act the way she did, when all she had to do was politely remind the passenger of the carry-on luggage limit. We couldn’t agree more!
New Gen Airways has since issued an apology to the Chinese national, and has stated that they will investigate whether the ground staff had behaved out of order.
We can’t even imagine how horrendous it was for the passenger to be caught in that situation over such a minor error! Here’s hoping his next airport experience goes a lot better. Sound off in the comments and tell us what you think of this incident.
