When in Rome, do like the Romans do. Similarly, if you’re supposed to pay for something as a consumer, there is no reason for you to skip paying before purchasing something or using a facility.

A TikTok video shared by @kurttayfanboy recently went viral on social media, showing a dispute between a young man in Singapore and a bus fare inspector. According to the caption of the video, the young man refused to pay for the bus fare and was unhappy when the fare inspector approached him about it.

“Young punk tried to beat uncle over unpaid fare.”

The video started with the young man yelling at the fare inspector’s uncle and saying,

“Don’t test my patience ah!

Feeling threatened, the uncle held his body cam to record the young man’s face, which he tried to slap away. Fortunately, another passenger tried to de-escalate the situation by standing in between them.

“You never listen to me, you’re saying I’m testing your patience?” the uncle told the young man.

Despite receiving vulgarity from the young man, the fare inspector patiently tried to convince him that he could pay with other alternatives. The young man, however, refused to make any payment and told the uncle,

“Everything don’t have.”

To be on the safe side, the fare inspector double-confirmed with the young man that he was NOT going to pay at all.

“Okay, I have your record now. I’m going to lodge a report. You sure you don’t have anything at all?”

The young man simply responded, “Go lah” and the fare inspector walked away as the clip ended.

According to the bus company – SBS Transit, the matter took place in July 2023. The video, however, recently circulated online again, with netizens still commenting on the video today.

The matter has also been referred to the police.

If you’re not paying for a facility, the inspector has the right to stop you from using the facility.
