Most of us would probably never hurt an animal as we have grown to love and care for pets in our lives.

However, it seems that some have no qualms what so ever about killing a dozen of cats.

In a recent statement by Malaysian Animal Association president Arie Dwi Andika, it was reported that in a rented condo in Bandar Sri Permaisuri, Cheras, skeletal remains of cats were found.

Arie said the incident was uncovered following a complaint from residents who could not stand the foul smell coming from the condo unit.

According to him, the owner inspected the condo unit rented by a local man in his 30s, only to find dozens of skeletons, organs and cat carcasses inside his house.

The body parts of cats were cut into pieces, and the meat was ground into pulp in the condo.

According to Arie, the conditions in the rental house were also appalling and horrible, and filled with animal blood. One of the rooms was filled with animal carcasses which have been decomposing for a long time.

A police report was filed by the owner at the Salak South Police Station on March 13 and the case will is being investigated under Section 428 of the Penal Code (cruelty against animals).

Arie added that although the species of the dead animals are unknown, they are likely to be cats based on its physical form and bones.

He is urging for an investigation to be carried out comprehensively, immediately and comprehensively.

If there is indeed an element of cruelty, the Animal Society of Malaysia demands that the perpetrator be dragged to court and charged under the Animal Welfare Act 2015.

It is unknown why he had killed all those cats.

We hope that the perpetrator gets arrested and made to face his punishment.
