Over the years, the Hallyu wave crashed onto Malaysian shores and many Malaysians have revealed their love for Korean boy bands with perfect choreography which has led to many young girls wanting their own oppas.
Well, we can’t guarantee that you’ll get your own oppa, but we can introduce you to a service in South Korea which allows you to rent your own oppa!
Deane Reyes from the Philippines, works as a nurse in the Middle East. She loves listening to K-pop and watching K-drama and it has always been her dream to visit South Korea. To be able to achieve that, she saved up money and in August 2019, she finally stepped foot on kimchi land.
In order to make her dream trip even better, she opted to rent an oppa with Oh My Oppa!. After talking to the management, they advised her to choose Hue as she wanted someone older than her. There were different packages offered according to the locations and duration of the tour. Some ground rules were set and they include no touching and no sharing of social media handles.
Deane recounted to WORLD OF BUZZ that when she first met Hue, she was really shy but he tried his best to accommodate. As Deane wanted to record all the memories, he was really professional and cooperated really well during the video shooting. He also gave Deane some pointers and introduced her to a few places and restaurants that locals frequent.
Deane met Hue two times and she said that he was very professional. As a parting gift, she gave him a packet of dried mangoes.
The 28-year-old says that this service is especially helpful when you’re going to Korea for the first time. They can take you to different places and tell you what’s good there. If you’re not keen on the idea of an oppa, you can always opt for an unnie!
To clear some misconceptions about the service, she says,
“It’s just the same as hiring any other English speaking tour guide. The bonus is that they’re an oppa or an unnie.”
