With the increased fears caused by the Omicron Covid-19 variant, it was recently announced that there will be no big New Years Eve countdown celebration this year.

However, with Christmas just around the corner, the authorities have just announced the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Christmas celebrations.

Christmas

Kementerian Perpaduan Negara took to their Facebook page to share the SOPs. It must be noted that the SOPs apply both to Christmas day (25 December) as well as Christmas eve (24 December).

The SOPs are as follows:

  • Prayers at churches are allowed subject to existing SOPs,
  • Choir performances will be allowed with social distancing of no less than 1 metre, and with mandatory use of face mask or face shield,
  • Home visits will be allowed for fully vaccinated people only,
  • House-to-house caroling will not be allowed.

We hope that everyone will cooperate and adhere to the SOPs so that we can all have a safe and merry Christmas.

Do you agree with the SOPs? Let us know in the comments.
