The Covid-19 virus has taken the whole world on quite a journey. For some, the pandemic is still hitting bad but for others, it was seemingly defeated.
New Zealand announced that they were free from the Covid-19 virus after their last patient had recovered and managed to evade the virus for 24 days.
Unfortunately, two new cases of the coronavirus have emerged, both apparently related through travelling in from the UK.
These new infections were a setback for New Zealand’s ongoing plan to lift social and economic restrictions, as reported by CNA, as it became one of the first few countries in the world to return to pre-pandemic normality.
The bungle happened after two women had traveled into New Zealand from Britain and had left quarantine to visit a dying relative.
As according to Gulf News, New Zealand prime minister Jacinda Ardern has since ordered their military to oversee the country’s border control efforts.
Their borders are open only to returning New Zealanders and their families, with some exceptions for foreigners on business and compassionate reasons, with everyone expected to undergo two weeks of mandatory quarantine.
This is truly an example as to why Malaysians should all adhere to social distancing rules, as the virus is never really gone, it’s just out of sight and out of mind.
