The gas station can be a deadly place if we don’t follow set rules. No phones, no smoking, and off your engine before you lift the pump.

To some people, that’s easier said than done. The Twitter page Malaysia Most Viral recently shared a short clip of a man smoking in his car at a gas station. He can be seen puffing the cigarette comfortably in the driver’s seat, not knowing that his act is being recorded.

The recorder, however, refused to approach the man and confront him about the matter.

“Cut the long story short. If I approach him, he’ll scold me. Let him feel the embarrassment when he sees this video.”

The location of the gas station is said to be in Perlis, and the person who recorded the incident managed to capture the plate number of the vehicle before he left the place.

“Is he trying to be a Ghost Driver?”

PDRM was also tagged on the post but at the time of writing (April 19), the police have yet to respond to the matter. Malaysians, on the other hand, are not happy with what they had to see in the clip.

Many expressed regret to see such a violation although smoking is clearly prohibited at gas stations, which everyone is aware of.

“Selfish and he doesn’t care about his own safety or the public. I hope the police will take action on this.”

“He wants to get burnt. It’s tiring to educate others to care for their safety. Bad things happen without warning and if he’s exposed to the fire triangle, he would get roasted. Perlis only has 8 people, and with this happening, we may only have 7 soon.”

Another netizen explained the punishment for those who are caught smoking at the gas station.

“According to the 2004 Tobacco Control Laws, he can be fined not more than RM10,000 or jailed not more than 2 years if found guilty.”

“Sorry to say, but he’s such a useless man.”

“If you were a man, you could’ve just approached him. Thank God the gas station did not blow up.”

“Is he trying to be a Ghost Driver?”

Will you approach and tell the person off if you were in this situation? In the meantime, giving your lungs a 2-minute break won’t hurt as you have plenty of other places and times to puff on the cancer stick.
