“If you can make a potato go viral. Please help me on this.”
This was a netizen’s plea for help to Malaysians when she detailed her experience with sexual harassment done by her driving instructor on Facebook.
She wrote, “I am far beyond devastated by this school’s quality. Recently on the 25th of February [Monday], I was sexually assaulted by Cikgu R— for four hours straight.”
“He touched/grabbed my hand, thighs and my butt.”
“He asked for my contact details, invited for movies and to hang out at his place after class.”
The onslaught, however, did not end there as the instructor began to pass comments about the girl’s physical appearance.
“He said a lot of dirty jokes and made remarks about my body, especially my chest area.”
“His friends also teased me and made me feel uncomfortable.”
Responding to the question as to why she did not resist, the netizen said this:
“I am not a good driver. I was scared to fight back as an accident may happen.”
“Cikgu R had taken advantage over me as a STUDENT.”
She was led to believe that the incident was not a first for the instructor, having claimed that no actions were taken by the director, Mr J—, towards the instructor.
“Don’t this centre teach their staff work ethics? I am posting this publicly because this isn’t a mere accusation.”
“I am traumatised over what has happened. I am also putting this up online because I know how much the centre cares about its reputation.”
“I have nothing to lose. THIS IS THE TRUTH.”
Additionally, she also posted an IG story of the traumatic experience.
She writes “I am not the only victim. A few have DM-ed me and shared that they were harassed too by other instructors from the SAME centre.
“The teachers see you as an easy target ESPECIALLY if you look mixed and do not understand Malay that well.”
“They talked about my body among themselves. I was laughed at and discriminated upon.”
The post has garnered more than 4,780 retweets and 1,297 likes. What’s more shocking is the fact that many others are also coming out with their stories facing sexual harassment by the driving instructors and some even by JPJ officers!
Seriously, WTF!
One netizen shared a series of IG stories sharing the experience of others at the same driving school.
“I’m not sure if this is allowed, but I found this on Facebook.”
“The staff, in general, have no work ethics. They are very rude and obnoxious.”
“Instructors are rude and absolutely creepy. They flirt a lot with the students and make them feel uncomfortable.”
“I reported an assault to the police a year ago. The JPJ officer was harassing me and insisted that I give my number.
“I still believe that he is on the loose targeting young girls.”
Seriously, what is wrong with this place?!
We sincerely hope that the victims will report such cases to the authorities and not be afraid to speak up or inform the people that they trust to ensure that justice is served.
