Taking to social media, netizen Ihsan Zainal shared a series of videos where his local municipal council tears up homeowner’s renovated driveways as it was against the law to construct.

“Remember everybody. Anything outside your gates, do not belong to you.”

“If it is wrong for you to extend your awning well beyond your gate, imagine how wrong it would be for you to renovate your driveways.”

In his videos, he mentioned that most of his neighbours spent thousands renovating their driveways and that the local municipal council will replace their destroyed driveways with driveways that follow their specifications.

Just imagine money going down the drain, after witnessing a backhoe drilling into your expensive tiles and concrete.

Commenting on the video, one netizen explained that the construction in place has made it difficult for local authorities to perform maintenance.

“In reality, these illegal constructions have made it difficult for local authorities to clean gutters and avoid floods in case of heavy rain.”

It is best to check with local authorities before carrying out any form of home renovations in the future, to avoid incidences like this from happening.
