Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun recently asserted that there’s an influx of foreigners in Nilai due to several factors, one of which was claimed to be the cheap rental rate at the district.

According to BERNAMA, Aminuddin also revealed that another factor is that Nilai has been used as a transit point for foreigners before they were sent to work in neighbouring states.

The Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar, who also holds the Security Action Committee chairman post elaborated that the cheap rental rate was due to premises in Nilai being converted into workers’ hostels.

Besides that, Aminuddin said that the increasing number of foreigners has also caused public nuisance as some of them were found to have violated laws.

He further stressed,

“Therefore, it is important for the authorities to carry out inspections to monitor the situation and to ensure that (employers and foreign workers) comply with the rules set,”

Speaking of which, the Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar shared on Facebook that he participated in an integrated operation dubbed Op Sabong last night (28 October) with 350 personnel from various Neger Sembilan-based enforcement agencies such as the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Immigration Department and Customs Department.

In the 5-day operation that began on 24 October, over 1,000 foreigners were screened, 254 premises inspected and 185 arrests were made for various offences under the Immigration Act. 398 compounds were also issued for various offences.
