A total of 36 Negeri Sembilan State Assembly members and political secretaries will be receiving salary increments starting January 2025.

Based on a report by Berita Harian, Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun confirmed this matter, though he did not share the new salary rates and the exact amount of the increments.

Additionally, he informed that the Negeri Sembilan State Assembly (DUN), which convened recently, passed a law amendment to revise the salaries of assembly members and political secretaries.

“It has been 10 years since we have not reassessed (assembly members’ salaries) and we (the assembly members) have not had an annual increment, our salaries are among the lowest compared to other states. Alhamdulillah, we have a surplus and in 2025, we will create a balanced budget. This has not been studied in 10 years, so we’re doing it,”

“The study on the remuneration system has been discussed and refined without neglecting the welfare of the people,” he explained at the weekly EXCO meeting at Wisma Negeri on Wednesday (December 4).

He went on to share that this has been discussed in depth for the past few years.

“We have already spoken about this matter, including with the opposition to get a better figure (salary),”

“This step was taken to re-align existing salaries considering that the position of the assembly members’ salaries is listed as the lowest compared to representatives of the people in other states,” he added.

It is understood that the increase will be more than 30%, amounting to approximately RM2.56 million.
