The National Sports Council (MSN) has confirmed that professional singles player Lee Zii Jia is in good condition, and there is nothing to be concerned about regarding mysterious sketches shared on social media yesterday (July 4).

MSN Director-General Jefri Ngadirin stated that both MSN and Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh had contacted Team LZJ to clarify the reason behind Zii Jia’s actions.

Zii Jia’s cryptic post has since garnered over 131,000 likes and more than 3,000 comments, sparking speculation about its meaning including claims that the 27-year-old athlete might be facing personal or mental health issues.

“They (Team LZJ) informed us that there’s nothing to worry about. Perhaps Zii Jia posted those images because he has an interest in that kind of art.”

“Nevertheless, we are always open to offering support if his team requires assistance from MSN or the National Sports Institute (ISN),” he added.

Jefri also dismissed claims that the Alor Setar-born athlete is suffering from depression, emphasising that MSN will continue to maintain communication with Team LZJ.

“His team and friends haven’t seen any signs indicating he’s facing mental or personal issues.
This generation may simply enjoy that kind of artistic expression, so let him express himself,” he said.
