The news of the death of a Malaysian girl in Taiwan recently shocked the nation, and a man who is allegedly her boyfriend confessed to the murder.
This is not the first death of Malaysians in Taiwan as back in 2020, two deaths involving two different Malaysians occurred in the same country, as reported by Taiwan News. With the recent death taking place, Malaysian singer and rapper, Namewee expressed his concern about safety in Taiwan in his sarcastic and controversial Facebook post.
“Day after day, Taiwan is getting safer. Remember, if you want to kill someone, be patient and bring that person to Taiwan. The law will ensure your safety.”
Namewee then highlighted that a total of 3 deaths have taken place in the course of 2 years.
After realising the criticisms that he received for the post, the Malaysian rapper responded to the backlash via another Facebook post yesterday (October 17) and sent a “message” to the people who claimed that Taiwan is much safer than Malaysia.
“Hello! Don’t you think we know about the safety in Malaysia? Taiwan is supposed to be safer, and that’s why parents are sending their children over there.”
However, the number of deaths involving Malaysians in the past couple of years has raised his concerns about safety in the country.
“Are you not sad? Are you not disappointed?” Namewee questioned rhetorically.
At the end of his post, the rapper also asked for the Taiwanese government to take on immediate action to resolve this matter.
In January 2020, a 25-years old Malaysian woman was killed and dismembered by a Taiwanese man, and the same year in August, another Malaysian woman met her demise in Taiwan after she was abducted, raped, and killed.
It’s heartbreaking to see innocent souls losing their life when they’re abroad earning a living. We hope that the perpetrator of the recent murder will be brought to justice. Do you agree with Namewee’s take on safety in both Malaysia and Taiwan?
