What would you do if your employers accidentally paid you way more than your salary?

An entrepreneur is now praising his staff after the staff member had reached out to inform him that the company had overpaid their salary by RM7,200 and returned the excess money to their boss.

The entrepreneur, Dr Zul Ariffin Maarof, took to his Threads profile to write, “When you get honest staff members, even when you make a mistake with their salary, they’ll call to let you know that they’ve received the wrong salary. Alhamdulillah.”

“The difference (in the amount) I wrongly paid them is huge. I pray that all my team members will one day be able to improve their skills, salary and commissions to be higher in 2025.”

He also included a screenshot of the interaction between him and his staff member, who informed him that he had paid the staff member RM9,142.95 instead of RM1,942.95. That’s an RM7,200 difference.

When Dr Zul Ariffin confirmed that he did make the mistake, the staff member asked for his account number so that they could transfer back the difference.

In the comment section, Dr Zul Ariffin also clarified that he provided the staff members with a monetary reward for their honesty.
