It has been two weeks since Najib Razak was imprisoned, but the support for the former Prime Minister is still going strong.
Just recently, during a solidarity event for Najib in Pekan, his son, Nizar compared Najib’s experience to Nelson Mandela, the man who was imprisoned before becoming the president of South Africa and reunited the people of the country upon his release. During the event, Nizar had nothing but fond things to say about his father.
“God will not test his believers more than what they can take,” Nizar assured the people who attended the solidarity event.
He also said that Najib’s imprisonment is one of many God’s ways of bringing his father to a “higher level”, and that he was sure that Najib will one day emerge better after his release.
In addition, Nizar said that only a few politicians could “rise again after being globally embarrassed,” which is a reference to the defeat of Barisan Nasional in the 2018 general election. He highlighted that if other people had gone through the same experience, they would have “probably gone crazy or slipped into a coma for months,” and he praised his father for his bravery in enduring constant pressure from the law courts.
The solidarity event, which took place on Sunday (September 4) attracted a large crowd, and Nizar believed that it was a solid proof of loyalty of the folks in Pekan.
“As a member of parliament (MP) who has served Pekan for 46 years, the people would continue to remember Najib and miss him.”
Do you agree with Nizar’s bold statement likening his dad to the sacrifices of Nelson Mandela?
