Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his son, Datuk Mohd Nazifuddin, has successfully obtained an order to stay the execution of a summary judgment by the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) in the case of overdue taxes amounting to more than RM1.7 BILLION.
Based on a report by Harian Metro, the order was recorded by a panel of 3 judges consisting of the Chief Justice, Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat and Federal Court Judges, Datuk Mary Lim Thiam Suan and Datuk Rhodzariah Bujang.
“The order to stay the execution of the summary judgment is allowed pending the disposal of the appeals by both the appellants at the Federal Court,” Tengku Maimun shared.
Earlier, lawyer Muhammad Farhan Muhammad Shafee, who represents both Najib and his son, informed the 3-judge panel that LHDN, as the respondent, did not object to their application to suspend the execution.
This was also confirmed by Senior Revenue Counsel Al-Hummidallah Idrus, representing LHDN.
On May 10, Najib and his son were given permission by the Federal Court to continue their appeal against the High Court’s decision, which allowed LHDN’s application to enter a direct judgement to recover more than RM1.7 billion in outstanding tax payments from the father-son duo, RM1.69 billion from Najib and RM37.6 million from his son.
