This is the spirit of a true Malaysian!
A teacher shared through his Facebook Page, Cikgu Emmet Menulis, about Cikgu Dayang Rafidah Awang Osman, a teacher in Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Padawan, who was seen cleaning her grandmother’s grave on All Souls Day – which is a Christian’s occasion, wrote Astro Awani. FYI, Cikgu Dayang’s grandmother was a Christian.
Cikgu Dayang was cleaning her grandma’s grave as she paid her respects to her long-gone relative. What’s even more amazing is that Cikgu Dayang’s family was embraced wholeheartedly by the visitors of the graveyard in Kuching, as she visited the grave along with her mother and aunt who are also Muslims.
Writing “A difference in religion is no barrier to the love for a mother who is no longer here”, Emmet used Cikgu Dayang as an example to show that we, humans, can learn about each other regardless of our religion and race. In fact, learning about each other will only make us better humans. He is right!
