With Iris Hsieh’s death now reclassified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code, Namewee will be arrested by the police.
The matter was confirmed by Datuk Fadil Marsus, the Kuala Lumpur Police Chief, today (4 November).

Police to arrest Namewee following the death of Iris Hsieh being reclassified as murder
According to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Iris’ body was found in the bathtub at the Banyan Tree Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, where the Malaysian singer and rapper, Namewee, was also arrested with ecstasy pills on him.
The matter was initially ruled as sudden death (SDR), but following further investigations, PDRM reclassified the case as murder.
As for Namewee, he has not yet been detained by the police at the time of writing, and Fadil said that there is no record of Namewee leaving the country.

He was the last person with Iris
Fadil told the media that Namewee will be arrested because he was the last person with Iris in the hotel room before her death.
“We will investigate the suspect’s and the victim’s movements from all angles. From there, we will determine if Namewee is the suspect or not.”
“As of now, we have recorded the statements from the hotel employees and the security guards.”
Fadil added that PDRM is still awaiting the Iris’ autopsy and toxicology report.

Namewee’s father told the police that he’s still in Kuala Lumpur
In another report by China Press, Namewee’s father told the media that his son has not returned home for two months. However, the singer called his father a couple of days back to tell him to wait for the police investigations.
His father also said that Namewee is currently in Kuala Lumpur, and the family will not be there to keep him company as he is “used to such situations”.
Namewee pleaded not guilty to two drug charges, and the matter has been set for a hearing on 18 December.
