This is why Malaysians can’t have nice things. How many times have we seen a new monument or a new mall absolutely wrecked within a few days of it being opened? Every time this happens, it goes viral with many people commenting about how we need to appreciate things and to make sure it doesn’t happen again – but does it stop? This latest disappointment, however, takes the cake as no destruction of public property has happened this quickly before, so be proud!
We were all so excited with the opening of the new Taman Tasik Titiwangsa as it looked amazing with the new additions, and the public was elated when news broke that it would be opening early just this last week!

The park opened on the 15th of December and brought in many visitors because LOOK AT IT! But, of course, since we can’t have nice things, the park has already been vandalised. A Facebook user posted some of the damages that happened in the park just this last weekend.

Bear in mind, when this post was made, the park had only been opened for FIVE hours!
In the post, the damages that occurred to the park were listed and it’s frankly unbelievable.
- scribbles scratched on the signboard
- garbage on the sidewalk
- usage of bicycles from unauthorised renters
- using the bicycles on a pedestrian sidewalk
We can complain all we want about how our country’s infrastructures aren’t good enough and of low quality, but taking heed of this, an excellent, brand-new park was presented to us and this is what we do with it?
Malaysians, do better! When we travel to foreign countries, we make sure to follow their rules and regulations and not litter, but why is it when it comes to our own country we simply just don’t care?
