The selfless action of a policeman from the Royal Malaysia Police’s (PDRM) Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) earned plaudits from Malaysians recently after a viral video showed him going beyond the call of duty to clear a clogged rain causing a road in Kuala Lumpur to flood.

In the 22-second video, the Abang Polis, Lance Corporal Fadli Matinsung from the Kuala Lumpur JSPT, can be seen tirelessly trying to clear a clogged drain on his own during heavy rain at Jalan Imbi-Bukit Bintang, causing the road to flood.

The road itself had to be closed due to the flooding, which caused traffic to worsen in the area. Seeing the situation, Fadli took it upon himself to clear the clogged drain despite it not being part of his or even JSPT’s job scope so traffic would flow better.

PDRM reshared the video on its official Facebook page, in which they thanked the Lance Corporal for his quick action that allowed the road to be reopened.

In the comments, many Malaysians praised the policeman’s selflessness and determination in helping road users. One commenter congratulated him on the action and hoped he would receive good karma.

Another commenter also praised the Lance Corporal but questioned where the Kuala Lumpur City Council’s (DBKL) task force was during the ordeal.
